Rain, code named Methuselah, is an immortal man who has been on the run from power hungry politicians and bounty hunters for centuries. Unfortunately, the tomboyish 14-year old is not an expert bounty hunter and she saves and gets saved by Methuselah repeatedly and ends up with a bounty on her head as well. After learning that Rain is a reluctant immortal Machika vows that she will be the one to end his life for him. "Immortal Rain" follows the adventures of this enthusiastic teen and airheaded immortal as they avoid capture and seek a way to finally kill Rain. Enter an evil corporation and a man from Rain's past who just may be the real Methuselah and you've got yourself a genuine adventure.

I love this manga and happily announce that after more than a year of waiting the 7th volume is due out in November. Written by Kaori Ozaki and published by Tokyopop Immortal Rain is a great story that has the amazing ability to go from serious to absurd and back at a moment's notice. Rain is a dorky airhead who occasionally succumbs to moments of melancholy and Machika is overly self assured and convinced that she herself is immortal and that nothing can hurt her. There are some very tender moments when Machika gets herself hurt and Rain remembers just how fleeting life is. A beautiful little love develops between them, but what can the future be between an innocent young girl chained by time and a jaded immortal man who wishes for his own death? I for one hope that they kick ass and go home happy.
