I had a new experience this week...one that I think will be with me for the rest of my life. It...has changed me. For the better or for the worse I am not sure, but one thing I do know is this: Me like-y Xbox Live!
Yes, I procured an Xbox 360 for myself this week along with an Apple Airport Express in order to share my WiFi network connection with any game system in my AV rack. This is another step forward in my monster rig setup...just need the HDTV 7 source system selector, Logitech Surround sound systems and a Nintendo Wii. [I might even add a PS3 if I hit the Powerball.] But I digress.
The fates smiled upon me this day as not only did my XB360 system and APExpress arrive on the same day [from different delivery carriers mind you] but my first XB360 game rental from Gamefly arrived in the regular mail not 3 hours after I had the whole spread setup.
I. Am. Loved.
So I tore into that Gamefly protective rapper like a deranged madwoman and settled in on my couch to play Dead or Alive 4. Not only did the computer proceed to lay upon me a smackdown like none I've ever had before, but I compounded that ass-a-whoopin' by trying out the online gaming piece of the game. I know, I should have at least learned one characters' moves first, or played for more than an hour before trying to run with the big dogs. I know this. But this was my first foray into the online gaming world...I had to know what it was like. I was dying for the experience. I didn't know what it was like...being out there in the world. What would the other players say? What would they do? Would they suck as bad as me? [The answer to that last question was "No" by the way.] Until today I had stayed away from online gaming. I was afraid it was going to just use up my n00b-ian goodness and toss me aside for someone younger, more eager to please. I might have been right, but DAMN did I have a good time playing!
Sure, a lot of my fellow players talked shit to me. Some even cast aspersions upon my lineage, my mother's ability to remain faithful to my father, and one even went as far to suggest that I, in fact, was born of the improper sexual persuasion. Did any of that stop me? No. I soldiered on...until this lil 13 yr old kicked my ass in 10 seconds. Then I turned my toy off and went to bed.
But I will be back at it dear friends. If you are on XBLive, and play DOA4 find me, and show me a good time.

Is that a shuriken in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
