Sure, the multiplayer of Uncharted 3 has yet to be tamed. And, yes, NinJa has yet to play a single wave of Horde mode in Gears of War 3 or even open her copy of RAGE but that didn't stop her from popping AC:Revelations in ye olde Xbox to take it for a spin. And even though Panda was finally making serious progress (sweet, sweet, progress) both girls got their hands on Saints 3 and, well, you'll just have to listen to the episode to find out what they think.

The biggest question that is asked when a multiplayer mode is added to a game that was traditionally a single-player experience is: was that really necessary?  In my opinion, with Dead Space 2, it isn’t totally necessary, but it looks like it’s going ridiculously fun. The premise for the mode is that there are two teams, a team of humans and a team of necromorphs.  There will be five different stages shipping with the game involving the humans accomplishing a goal and the necromorphs stopping them at all costs.

As a human, you will control much like our good friend Isaac Clarke.  With plasma cutter and line gun in hand, you’ll cut down the beasts that are trying to stop you using the series’ signature strategic dismemberment system.  As a necromorph, you’ll leap upon the mining-suit-wearing heroes and slice or gobble them down before they can accomplish their task.  There will be several different types of necromorph that you can choose from as well.  You can be the Pack, the Lurker, the Spitter or the Puker on your quest to take down your friends.

There are several things that excite me about this new multiplayer addition.  First off, it looks like it emulates the actual gameplay in the real game while adding the component of playing with and against friends.  If this manages to be pulled off in a meaningful way, then it could greatly extend the life of the game.  The idea of being able to be the enemy, though not an entirely unexplored concept, is very exciting to me.  Drudging through the halls of the Ishimura from the first game, I remember the sense of dread I felt at where the next attack might come.  It’ll be awesome to get to experience the other side of that through the necromorphs.

Taking cues from even more games, there will also be a leveling system in the game that will add skins, weapons and more abilities to your different necromorph characters.  While certainly none of this is anything new, I think that they’ve done a fantastic job at looking at what has worked for multiplayer games thus far.  More importantly, they looked at what would be fun and make sense for the type of gameplay and atmosphere this series is all about.

I very much like that although they could have gone with a fairly simple capture the flag and team deathmatch type of multiplayer, they chose to keep it within the tone and feel of the game.  While the single player affair was more than I needed to enjoy this game, I am delighted and excited to hear about this addition.  Is it January 2011 yet?

We all know that online gamers can be tools. We expect them to be. But what happen when it seems an Xbox Live moderator is abusing his power. Controversy ensues!

Let me start by saying that the "victim" has performed some serious editing to the following video, which he says is due to audio issues, but could quite possibly be to make himself seem like, well, a victim.  Even though the accused moderator, who goes by the gamertag "The Pro", was being antagonistic, the edit job is cause for an eyebrow raise.

The Pro : XBOX Live Moderator Abuses His Power

Xbox Live Chief of Police, Steven "Stepto" Toulouse says he "will certainly speak to The Pro about his tone" and any banning mentioned in the video was in reference to those caught modding the Modern Warfare 2 gameplay. Toulouse also recognizes "the audio is clearly recut to omit the threats and ToU (Terms of Use) violations" made towards the moderator.

It could go either ways folks, but I simply think the buy was busted for violating Terms of  Use (ToU) and edited the video to swing things his way, BUT on the other hand, The Pro was out of line with his threats and taunts so should be disciplined as well.

In this episode of the podcast the ladies of ESH talk about Visceral Games newly released title Dante's Inferno and its drive to be not be God of War. NinJa starts off the hour with a run down of the game and it's mechanics, similarities and non-similarities to other action-rpg games like Devil May Cry. Be warned, NinJa has some rants about this game that will spoil a few things for you so don't listen to this episode if you don't like spoilers.

Pandalicious talks a bit about the soothing and calming experience she's been having at the end of the day playing flOw on the PS3 made by thatgamecompany and then adds in her hopes and dreams and giddiness over the newly released and release pending Resident Evil 5 DLC packs Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape.

The ladies also talk about President Obama's comment about American kids playing video games while kids from other countries are learning the math and science to make video games.
