Why Electric Sista Hood?

I could give you a lot of grandios reasons why and how Electric Sista Hood came to be. I could tell you that we are a government funded front to lure out sexual predators and wanna be child molestors through new media avenues such as the web and online gaming. NARC! NARC! Our elite group of agents have been thoroughly trained to appear, sound, and act as young girls when they are in fact all 40 yr old men that have been with this intelligence group for over 15 yrs. Yep, I could tell you that... but then I'd have to kill you, or send you to one of those secret torture prisons overseas that we don't have. I could even go so far as to say that we don't actually exist. What you are reading right now you aren't actually reading at all, it's all in your imagination man. You need to get off the mushrooms now, before what is left of your brain is gone for good. That too, is a statement I could make. But I won't. Instead I'll tell you the truth.

ESH first got it's legs as SplendidBlunder, and while SplendidBlunder was shortlived, it served it's purpose and gave birth to ESH. SplendidBlunder was a blog started by NinJaSistah [posting under the name of Splendorifica] focused on web design and Garageband production. [I told you I was into creativity] But, as with many things on the web, it was hard to keep up with all the innovation on a regular basis and hold down two daytime jobs... so the Blunder had to die. But what to do next? My sister and I each week would check in with each other to make sure we knew what was going on with one another, and found that no matter how hard we tried NOT to talk about video games and anime, we did. And we would just have these long, funny, interesting conversations about what was going on in the worlds of anime and gaming that we liked, hated, or wish we knew more about. We would drool with desire when discussing how badly we wanted to go to E3 and the AX. [Anaheim Anime Expo] Then it hit me: why not start a video game an anime blog? Wait! Make it even better by adding a podcast and just record one of our weekly conversations and share that with the world! Yeah, I'm on to something. If we could make something unique [which we have as I haven't found anything on the web quite like ESH yet] maybe people would find us, then find us entertaining, and we could get big enough to go to these events. "Hell yeah, I'm in, you in sis?" We had the foundation, but we need a name.

Coming up with a name for the site was difficult. We wanted something that right off the bat would let people know that this deal was being run by the ladies, but we didn't want something that a dude wouldn't want to wear on a shirt or cap. [Buy Something Dammit!] And since we were going to be talking about more than video games, we couldn't just do something like FemGamer.com. I never liked that one anyways, we're not about causes here, just fun. I digress. We knew we were going to focus on video games and anime, but both Pandalicious and I are tech nuts and into computers as well as music and movies, so the possibility that we would branch out into talking about electronics or tech in general was on the table. That's how "Electric" ended up in the title. When we started talking about how big we'd like to get, we realized that what we really wanted to do was help bring together a diverse community of gamers and anime fans... a "neighborHood" if you will. See where I'm going with this? And then you add the "Sistah" because we are black, sisters by blood, and that adds the "run by the ladies thing" I mentioned earlier. And lo, Electric Sista Hood was born unto the world, naked and ready to pwn you all!

ESH, is made up of the ruling sistah's NinJaSistah and Pandalicious. MagicMysticGrl was the first addition made to the ESH Crew and brings to the group the art for the avatars for the writing staff, great articles on anime, manga, and games that are far from the mainstream. Following MagicMystic, Evermore joined the team to bring the cold hard facts of gaming and anime stuffs to the team. As people we all have biases, Evermore helps out the team by being a robot with no feelings one way or the other when it comes to stores. Then rounding out the group is our newest team member Monkey Doo. Monkey crazy. Monkey funny. We heart Monkey. Only one of the ESH crew members is a trained journalist, the rest of the team members come from different backgrounds. From web design, to retail, and still in college trying to figure out what the hell to do, the crew is diverse. Diversity is awesome. And here's a quick fact, not all of the crew members are females. ESH is about inclusion, not exclusion... but NinJa is r00t!

Our mission is very simple, provided honest opinions, advice, and insights on the gaming and anime industries WHILE having fun. If we can bring together a few people in the process that's great. [But if we are super-super honest we REALLY want to get sponsorship to to go E3 and AX. If you can make that happen, click here, fill out the form, and let us know how.]

Now for the fun stuff. Click on one of the crew members names on this page to view their bio page and learn a little more about the ESH Crew. Some bios are done, some are not, but eventually they will all be finished.
