    More Wii-Joicing

Been bopping around the internet again [as usual] and came across this link to some interesting videos. If you have been having doubts about how that new Wii-mote for the Nintendo Wii system was going to work with it's games then you should look no further.

If you follow this link you will hit the Game World Network's website and a page that has videos of gameplay of all of Nintendos' Wii-mote games so you can see just how the interaction between arm flailing and on screen imagery works. It's pretty neat, I have to say. For instance, as a Mad Maestro junkie, the Orchestra game demo made me salivate in a Pavlovian way. [I'm going to need a new keyboard, oh well.] If you suffer from this addiction, then you too will appreciate this video. I felt these players pains as I watched them [un]successfully navigate through the classical pieces, filling with envy as I imagined just what Mad Maestro would have been like if only that baton had been included in the US version. Sigh. Ok, back to reviewing.

You know that shooting and sword fighting game I keep mentioning in the podcasts, Red Steel? Well there is a video for it as well. At times I really wanna smack the camera operator because you can't really see what is going on in the game. [From what I can guess he was having trouble findin the zoom on the camera there for a while.] But when you can see the game I think it's interesting to note that in the game the hand holding the gun is slightly cocked to the left...It's because the remote in the players hand is slightly tilting left. I think that's really neat. Now, this guy is having a hell of a time actually hitting people in the game, but I can't tell if it's because of the controller or because he doesn't play FPS games much. [Evidenced by his quick and untimely death] And then there was Madden 07...I don't think I really need to say anything other than just buy it when you get a Wii people.

Anywho, watch the movies, and tell us what you think. I know I'm going to buy one, but I'm curious to what people think after seeing some actual gameplay. Will the Wii-mote and new gameplay style really reach the casual gamer?

Is that a shuriken in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
