    Spaceballs: The Cartoon!

    posted @ 9/24/2006 03:10:00 PM by Ninjasistah
I got good news, bad news, and then better news for you. First the good news: The good news is that Spaceballs: The Movie is about to become Spaceballs: The Cartoon...

The bad news is that it looks like G4 is getting first dibs on the series. According to this article on the Variety website, G4 has the rights for the 1 hour pilot and typical 13 half hour episode first season of the new cartoon series.

The better news is that Mr. Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan [who co-wrote Spaceballs: The Movie will write the hour long pilot while Meehan will oversee the writing during the series season. Oh yeah, Brooks himself will do the voices for President Scroob and Yogurt for the series... just as Bob intended!

Sure, this isn't video game news but it is an animated series, so it kinda falls under the anime banner. Besides, Spaceballs [and all things "balls" related] are news and noteworthy in my book. I have been waiting for all the things Yogurt promised me in the movie: Spaceballs: The T-Shirt, Spaceballs: The Toilet Paper, the Yogurt plushie, and especially Spaceballs: The Flamethrower. Hopefully the series will be good enough to make it through the entire initial season so some of that merchandising may come to pass.
