Being a film and video student has taught me to look at the world in a different way. Being a geek has taught me to be passionate about many different forms of media and art. Combining these two aspects of my personality has created a unique individual; one who can both appreciate the finer things in life, such as video games, movies, anime, graphic novels comic books and one who can take what I love and turn it in to a creation that I can call my own. And as a film and video student who is striving to be an editor, I can take these two aspects of my life and manipulate and craft them into something amazing. What I am talking about is both AMV editing, movie editing, and filmmaking. That is what I hope to achieve in the articles I plan to write for ESH. I plan to explore the art of editing and apply the various technical and aesthetics techniques of this art form to both the making of movies, films and AMVs. I will also journey inward to the various movies and films that are out there and different types of movies that are both technically and aesthetically pleasing and the movies that are dominating the box office and grabbing hold of the geek community.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not here to tell you what exactly to make when it comes to AMVs, or what clips to use in a sequence you are working on for a film or what movies to see and what movies not to see. I am simply here to serve as your guide through the exciting world of editing, filmmaking, and movie watching. In these articles that I will transcribe for you, the web viewers of Electricsistahood.com, methods to my and other editing masters madness; issues when it comes to media formats, editing software, and use of said software. Hopefully these tips of the trade will help you figure out what you are doing in making AMVs or your own personal film projects and give you insight in this crazy art form. And for those who are completely clueless on where to begin or when and where to make a cut, I will throw a little editing theory in the mix, both that can be applied to the construction of AMVs as well as films too.
I am a student of film and films and movies are a big part of my life. I know what is currently good out there in the market and what to avoid at all costs. I love editing and I love making both films and AMVs. I hope that in writing these articles I will inspire greatness in you the reader to step out of your safety realm and venture into a new field and help gain a appreciation for the film art form. Above all I hope that both you the reader and me the writer can have a little fun along the way as well as I review the biggest titles in movies that are raking in big bucks in the box office too.
My name is Advent87. I am a student filmmaker on the cusp of graduating from college. I love editing and making movies and AMVs as well as watching movies and anime as well as playing video games and reading manga. And I will be your guide, friend and colleague in the incredible world of editing and movies.
The Journey Begins.
