An MMO spreading Love to PC Gamers

posted @ 10/02/2009 08:14:00 PM by Vichus Smith
Do you have any Love in your life? Well, now we can all experience it for the first time.

Love is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game which is being developed and produced by just one person- Eskil Steenberg. It's as indie as you can get and incredibly ambitious. On top of that, this game is not the same click n' slash, swords and sorcery game that comes to mind when you think of MMORPGs.

Love is a "procedural" game, meaning that the world is ever changing and evolving. It has been a slow burn for Love, again because there is only one person working on the game.

Early this year, Steenberg released a video which actually ran you through part of the world of Love and how Steenberg goes about creating it.

Quite fascinating, no? Now Steenberg has opened up Love for an open alpha test of the world, for players in the UK and US to experience. So give Love a chance, wont you?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (of the Colossus?)

posted @ 9/29/2009 06:26:00 PM by Vichus Smith

It's been a while since we've had a (good) Castlevania game for consoles. Kojima Productions is out to change that.

Boasting an impressive voice cast and graphics fit for the current generation of consoles, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow may be a title worth playing based on the content that's been revealed.

Our hero this time (why not a Belmont?) is Gabriel; I guess he doesn't get a last name- that whole Cher/Madonna/Prince thing, I guess. Gabriel is in search for the power of the Lords of Shadow. He needs that power to bring "her" back. Who she is and why he wants her back is something you might have to wait until next year to find out.

This power comes in the form of a Mask. Is the mask a weapon, a key of some sort, or to be placed on the face of a particular person? That is also a mystery.

Gabriel will have many tough challenges throughout his journey, and the E3 trailer only shows him facing off against all sorts of crazy monsters. There are hounds from hell, ice giants, ogres, spiders and a gargantuan bull-like creature. Some of the bosses are so massive that they look like they are something out of Shadow of the Colossus- so huge that you might need to climb them to defeat them.

No need to be frightened for gabriel, because he looks every bit as badass as any of the Castlevania heroes in gaming history. He carries a spiky metal cross, a whip and a big mace, all perfect for killing whatever comes his way. Here's hoping that the Kojima team can pull off a big win with this "reborn" Castlevania.
