ESH Cast #512: Westworld Takes Virtual Reality Gaming to the Extreme
The main subject of this week's podcast is not a video game at all. But, perhaps one day, it will become the equivalent of one.
Westworld, the new series on HBO, is derived from a great 1970s film starring Yul Brynner, reprising his Chris character from 1960's movie The Magnificent Seven.
It seems perfectly justified that a year that brings a new version of The Magnificent Seven back to movie screens would also be the same year that brought Westworld to TV. And Westworld is no mere TV show -- it is a TV show on HBO, which means it can include all the swearing and nudity that adults of all ages clamor for.
The movie is the ultimate in Virtual Reality, which ties in nicely with the newest thing in video games. And, if you need an anime connection, it's there as well: The Magnificent Seven was derived from the Japanese film Seven Samauri, which was later turned into a popular anime itself.
But that's not all that's discussed in this week's show. Short discussions of Sid Meyer's Civilization and the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare occur as well.
But the main focus is on Westworld and, we gotta warn you, spoilers abound. But if you're brave enough, climb on in and listen to ESH Cast #512: Westworld Takes Virtual Reality Gaming to the Extreme.
