“Wreck-It Ralph” Mobile Game Brings Truly Classic Vibe
Disney's upcoming animated film Wreck-It Ralph is being pushed out there as a massive love letter to video game fanatics everywhere, so it comes as no surprise that they would plan to build a game based off it. No one counted on the fact, however, that it would be both massively addictive and fun.
The smartphone/tablet game is in the style of classic arcade games from the 80s. Wreck-It Ralph is destroying all the windows on a massively tall apartment, and it's up to your character Fix-It Felix to fix them while evading the bricks he tosses at you. While fixing the windows you must also avoid flying ducks that can cause you to lose a life. However in Wreck-It Ralph your lives are more like remaining hits you are allowed to take, as you don't have to worry about starting over again if you get swiped by a brick or bird. You can earn more lives by collecting pies appearing on windowsills.
As the levels progress, more challenges appear during level such as blockades and the quantity of flying ducks. I managed to get up to level five, and the challenges there weren't exactly tough, but it seems that Disney is making a smart move by letting these obstacles become tougher without them spiking in difficulty in a matter of a level or two.
Wreck-It Ralph is due to be released around the time the film hits theaters in November, with an asking price of $0.99. Disney Interactive is also promising free DLC as time goes by, meaning more levels, challenges, and other exciting game-related material. One thing's for certain: Disney's heart in the classic gaming realm is in the right place.
