Finally a break. Right in time for the holidays...
Demon’s Souls has been easily dubbed one of the hardest games to come out this year. It calls for skill, precision and a great sense of timing. If Demon’s Souls was a woman, she would be highly temperamental and on the verge of ripping your limbs off. One false statement about where you’ve been, and you are toast. However, even the most evil and devious shrew will have her moments of pleasantness.
If you were one of the few that had Atlus’ gaming masterpiece: Demon’s Souls around Halloween time, you were probably cursing up a storm, swearing vengeance against the team responsible for your current gaming misery, and wishing you could get away with mass murder without the penalty of going to prison. If you have no clue as to what I am talking about then listen up.
In Demon’s Souls, there is a component called World Tendency. The actions you take while in certain worlds can shift the tendency from a range Pure White to Pure Black. (Think of world tendencies like levels of difficulty.) When the tendencies are white, the enemies are a lot easier to deal with and you take less damage while when the tendency is black, the enemies are no longer pushovers. Shifts in tendency can also mean that special NPCs and bosses will be available to fight against. However this is only valuable knowledge if you know where to find them.
To test out this power of shifting tendencies, on Halloween, Atlus set the tendency to Pure Black. Since they made the game, they can manipulate it at will, and they did. So you can imagine how many unaware gamers got their heads served back to them on a blood-splattered platter. We’ve seen the worst and now we will see the best.
Just like Halloween’s “Pure Black” World Tendency Event, Atlus is hosting a Winter Solstice “Pure White” World Tendency Event. So this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! This event will only happen on North American servers, so mark your calendars for December 21st and prepare for the easiest Demon’s Souls experience you’ll get EVER. Think of it as an early gift that if not used effectively might just come back around to haunt you.
