"Squid Girl" Returns De-Geso!

Get ready for more squid puns and tentacle humor, because one of last year's most adorably funny anime series is set to return!

In the 13th issue of Akita Shonen, released this past Thursday, it has been announced that the anime comedy Shinryaku! Ika Musume (better known here in the States as Squid Girl) has been green-lit for a second season. The series, based on the manga by Masahiro Anbe, follows the misadventures of Squid Girl, a human cephalopod set out to take over the world as revenge for the human race destroying her oceans. During her first task of taking over a beach house she accidentally smashes a hole through the structure's wall, and is now forced to work at the restaurant to pay for the damages. With the help of manager Eiko and her family & friends Squid Girl learns that the human world isn't such a bad group of people after all.

No word on a release date, though a late-fall run in 2011 would be the best bet. A US streaming on the Crunchyroll website is also imminent.
