3DS Ambassador Games One Day Early In US and Japan

Are you a Nintendo 3DS owner?  Did you purchase your system before the price drop and connect to the eShop?  Do you live in the US or Japan?  If the answer to all three of these questions is yes, then you have some NES games to download today.  Nintendo was ready to go with their Ambassador program a whole day early.  Hit the jump to see how to get them and what you’re getting exactly.

While the way this situation played out hasn’t been perfect, I do have to hand it to Nintendo, the distribution of these games is pretty ingenious.  If you connected to the eShop before the price drop hit, then congratulations, you already own those ten games.  The way to retrieve them is quite simple.  Go onto the eShop on your 3DS, navigate into your settings and there will be a previously downloaded section.  There, you’ll find all ten of those NES games sitting in there as if you’d already purchased them.

Downloading them takes a bit of time, because you have to do them one by one, but it  is worth it in the end as all of the games are quite good.  Here is a list of all ten games you’ll be getting:

  • Super Mario Bros
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Balloon Fight
  • Ice Climber
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Metroid
  • NES Open Tournament Golf
  • Wrecking Crew
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
  • Yoshi

I’m pretty excited to play some of these that I never got a chance to play growing up, with Wrecking Crew and Balloon Fight being prime examples.  No word yet on when when the Gameboy Advance games will be available, but we will keep you posted as more details emerge.  Now get out there and download those free games one day early!
