What (I Think) You Should Watch This Anime Season- Pt. 3 (of 3)

OK, OK! I have to admit that there were a few more animus on Crunchyroll that were streaming, but I really didn't want to bother with them. Still, for anyone who's reading this, I figured that you shouldn't be deprived of such wonderful animations

The Must Watch List

My Little Monster

This show is FUNNY!!! To think that I nearly avoided this show, a show that's comedically right up my alley. Why pick a chicken for the image to represent this series? Maybe you should ask "Why is a chicken even in this episode??" Random is the name of the game when it comes to this show. It's a show about an unlikely pairing, like some comedy anime of this sort tend to be, but this one's a bit different. Good student Shizuku is tasked with bringing homework to delinquent student, Haru. She has no idea what she's in for.

While the whole show is funny, it's obviously Haru's show, and for great reason. When he's not doing something crazy, he's saying something crazy, and everyone else is basically at his mercy. Whatever impulse hits his brain, he just goes for it, and everyone who's in the way is just at his mercy. When I say this show is funny, I don't just mean that it's above average in comparison to the typical corny anime comedy. I think that it's a show that takes you off guard by his humor. Before you know it, you will be holding your sides, and I think anime needs more shows like My Little Monster.

Ebiten

This is a hard show to recommend. You can look at that awkward image above and remove all doubt as to why. Ebiten is an all female cast, about an astronomy club that's struggling to survive. We have all your favorite female archetypes, the newest one being the Haruhi type, which is basically the genki girl with her pigtails in bows. Oh, and look, she has a helpless girl who is stripped down to her underwear for no reason!

So, ah, why am I not saying that this is easily avoidable? I think that within what is pretty much a by-the-numbers comedy show you have a premise that is interesting enough to carry it above most of the all-female shows that are simply hoping to sell dolls and figures of their characters. I think that it's their attention to astronomy and their sentai show attitude that gives me a little hope for Ebiten.
