    Human After All

When it comes to music simulation games I make no bones about the fact that I am quite biased towards them. For me, they are the rare type of game that can be competitive or non-competitive at a moments notice. As a creative type person with friends on both sides of the "avid gamer" fence, this is an important quality for a game to have.

Last week I was woo'd by the MTV Games/Harmonix title The Beatles: Rock Band. This week, Activision's DJ Hero has my direct attention.

This gear-shift does not mean that Beatles Rock Band and I broke up, just that we are not dating exclusively. DJ also looks like a fine lady to hang out with and with good reason. When the title launches on October 27th, Activision boasts a whopping 93 songs on disc will be playable, including a bunch of megamixes for the player to enjoy. While this may seem a bit "old hat" to you, the kicker for me today was that camp DJ announced tracks from Daft Punk would be in the game.

    The mixes available include:
    • "Around the World" vs. Young MC "Bust A Move"
    • "Da Funk" vs. NASA "Strange Enough ft. Karen O, ODB and Fatlip"
    • "Da Funk" vs. Queen "Another One Bites the Dust"
    • "Robot Rock" vs. Hashim "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" – Produced and mixed by The Scratch Perverts
    • "Robot Rock" vs. Queen "We Will Rock You"
    • "Short Circuit" vs. Boogie Down Productions "Jack Of Spades"
    • "Technologic" vs. Gary Numan "Cars"
    • "Television Rules The Nation" vs. No Doubt "Hella Good"

If you listened to this weeks' podcast episode already, you know that I was not quite yet sold on purchasing this game, that has now changed. I love Daft Punk. Whenever I am in the middle of a day full of suckitude, Alive 2007 brings me back to being me; fun-loving and not chock-full suck. As much as I enjoy the music that artists like Jay-Z, Eminem, the Gorillaz and Rick James, I was a bit worried when I looked at the initial revealed artist list for tracks in the game. But as more and more video's started to hit the web showing off various folks giving the wheels of plastic a spin I became less and less anxious. Now I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this title.

Make sure you make a visit to the DJ Hero site and check out what is going down October 27th, and while you are checking things out, peep our new image gallery including some DJ Hero images with more to come soon.

Who knows, maybe I will have a hands-on review of the game and controller for you soon.

    DMC4: Now With Roses

    posted @ 12/17/2007 01:00:00 PM by Ninjasistah
For those of us dying to get our hands on Dante this February can breathe a sigh of relief. Capcom has announced that a playable demo of the game will be available on the PLAYSTATION Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace in early 2008.

Now, exactly when "early 2008" means I dunno, but early can't come early enough for me. I am a huge fan of the DMC series even after the atrocious and nearly unforgivable DMC2 release, I STILL have love for Dante. That being said, I am a little uncertain about this new title. Am I worried about the graphics? Nope. The screenshots that I've seen so far look great. What about the voice acting? Again, not worried there. I'm reasonably excited about the new Nero character and the addition of badasses Lady and Trish makes me happy in the pants area. So what about the new DMC title gives me pause for the cause?

This image. This image right here of my sexy hunny bunny Dante holding a rose in his teeth. Sure, the press release says that this rose business is part of a new attack that Dante uses, but I can't help but feel Dante's badassedness slipping away from him. I mean really? Dante finishing off a devastating attack by dropping a rose that he's been carrying in his teeth? Isn't that a bit Don Juan of the master of the cocky one-liners? I sure hope this attack works better in action that in concept.

Dante needs to be a bad mutha shut my mouth again, not worry about bringing sexy back. Timberlake already tried and failed.

Guilty Pleasure: Who Stole The Precious Thing?

I have to share this because, well, I just have to. It's unfair of me to keep it to myself.

For the past week I've been filling the few moments that I have to myself with youtube videos that just fill my blackened ninja heart with joy.

I accidentally bumped into this group of videos based on this song by IOSYS whose title sort-of translates into "Marisa Stole The Precious Thing."

So the videos that I've been watching are remixes of this damn addictive song. I'm posting the top 3 remixes that I love and I want you to vote on which one you think is best and why. If you dig up a good one that I haven't mentioned, link to it as well.

So, here's my number 3 pick:

    Here's my number 2 pick:

And for the number 1 choice, I submit to you:
