New Lara Croft Model Gets Own'd By Ekstra Bladet

    posted @ 11/10/2008 08:51:00 AM by Douceswild

What happen when Danish paper, Ekstra Bladet, sat down with the new face and body of Eidos' Lara Croft, Alison Carroll to quiz her on things any good archaeologist (especially a "tomb raider") should know?

There was awkardness for Mrs. Carroll, egg on Eidos' face, and hilarity for us. You can tell from the beginning that Alison didn't want to do this and when the Eidos rep saw this train wreck in progress, she FINALLY decided to pull the plug.

    Panda Ponders Yet Again

    posted @ 10/27/2008 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah
Monday brings along with it a new episode of the ESH podcast, and since NinJa had an at bat on an episode all her own, we had to give Panda equal time on this network.

Ok, so we aren't a network yet, but we are growing in that general direction so stop raining on our parade already. Pandlicious spends a little time in this episode sharing her top 5 picks for best songs featured in Rock Band 2 by MTV Games/EA/Harmonix. By now you should have a firm grasp on how much the sistah's love the Rock Band but if you don't, just make a run through of our past posts and podcast for the last two months. You will lose count of the amount of times we talk about this game, so one more won't hurt.

While I won't give away the list [what will make you listen to the episode if I type it all up here, eh?] I will tell you that it features some great all around songs folks... including stuff by Jonathan Coulton.

So, grab your headphones and a cup of joe to sit back and enjoy Pandalicious' Top 5: Songs of Rock Band 2 [medium and hard difficulties].

Ex-Gamestop Employee Takes it to YouTube

    posted @ 9/08/2008 08:09:00 AM by Douceswild

A disgruntled ex-Gamestop employee who goes by the name WhistleBlowerZero, has put up a nine part series on YouTube blowing the whistle on Gamestop's business practices towards consumers and employees. You may recognize the video and narrative style from Zero Punctuation.

As a former manager of a local Gamestop, I can say that a lot of what he says is true, especially the part about having better options than trading your game back to Gamestop, I'm not a disgruntled ex-employee either. I just recognize better deals than what Gamestop offers. Watch the video and tell if you agree or not.

    Pandalicious' Playlist [Anime Boston2K8 Style]

    posted @ 5/29/2008 12:00:00 PM by Pandalicious
When television isn't enough..youtube makes it all better!

Pandalicious in the hizzie fo rizzie! Have you ever been on your couch flipping through channels wishing the most random things would come on? [You aren't the only one let me tell you] Well I am aiming to remedy this desire for randomness. Over the next few weeks I will be searching the infinite series of tubes to bring forth the most random [BUT INTERESTING] Youtube videos. They will be very random, and will not always fall under the realms of my geek chic forte of anime and manga. I thought to start this whole thing off with a little trip down memory lane. The wonder lane of Anime Boston 2K8

The first one is the best in show of this years convention.
Sadly it wasn't the one I voted for personally. If there is anything people love it's CG and then KH so apparently CG+KH= Best in Show. Enjoy!

Next comes another CG favorite. It got best concept if my memory doesn't fail me. [after seeing it I could definately see why!]

Now here is one of my personal favorites, it was a finalist but it did not take home one of the spots of the "Bests"

This Video got Best Editing. [FOR GOOD REASON] It's so bubbly..and makes me wanna bounce, all day long...

This one was my choice for best comedy....did it win? You tell me?

The last one I think I'll share will be for the ladies...It is too cute to pass up!

At the end of all of this, I can only say that the talents that have been showcased here are uncanny. I only wish I had a fourth of it. I can only imagine how good next years AMVS will be.

So? Did you like these videos? Have a favorite you wanna share with me? Send it to me here at the site! If its UBERLY SHIBBY who knows I might link it and give you props. [Oh Of course I'll give you props... I ain't no thief Geebuz]

    20-O-Savage Was Yatta!!

    posted @ 12/18/2007 09:13:00 AM by Douceswild
It seems like just yesterday I was starting 2007, or "20-O-Savage" as it's been called, off with one of my jewels and now here we are nearing the end of the year with another of my little internet treats.

It has been an interesting and amazing year. We've seen videos of things exploding, imploding, people hurting themselves, and much more outrageous things. We've had great video games (Rock Band, Mass Effect), anime (Claymore), and gadgets (iPhone) come out this year. The Electric Sistahood truely became more "savage" than ever while bringing you all of this info in 2007 and we're still picking up momentum.

"20-O-Savage" is coming to an end and "20-O-Epic" (I'm coining that phrase right now. You heard it here first.) is rapidly approaching. I couldn’t think of any better way to end the O-Savage than with Happa-tai (Leaf Squad) or Green Leaves as they called themselves in English. This jewel pretty much speaks for itself. It’s been a great year people.

    Enjoy!

    Douce’s Very Own YouTube Jewel

    posted @ 9/30/2007 10:55:00 PM by Douceswild

Is it that time of the month again? No, it's not THAT time of the month. It's that time for me to throw another one of my Jewels at you. This one is very special to me so I'm going to share it with you.

Every now and then I'll head over to YouTube and search for World of Warcraft videos just to see what's out there. I find myself spending almost an hour watching videos of different guilds taking down endgame bosses. I knew one day my guild would be doing the same and our video would eventually grace the pages of YouTube. That day has finally come!

I've been toying around with some online media outlets for my World of Warcraft guild, Heralds of Azeroth, over the past month. I've created a small podcast for HoA since we've started successfully running some endgame instances like Karazhan, but I wanted a way to SHOW everyone what we can do. That's right people. The Heralds of Azeroth have finally made to the pages of YouTube!

A guild mate of mine frapped this video of our Karazhan boss fight against Moroes this past Saturday night. He sent it to me and I spiced it up with some flare. I wasn't on this run because it was more of a beginners run for those who just hit the level cap of 70 to get their feet wet, but you will see my rogue character, Ventrue, in future videos. If you look close at the right side of the video at 1:16, you'll see my wife's character, Syralan, run to where the healers are standing. She just got her Paladin up to level 70 last week and that was her first time in Karazhan! She did an awesome job as a healer.

This is my first attempt at editing gaming video so I need you guys to tell me what you think. Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present the pride of Douce's Jewels. It brings me great joy to share with you That's One Moroes Mother-%$#@$@â.

    Enjoy!

    IT'S RAINING JEWELS...CHOCOLATE JEWELS

    posted @ 8/28/2007 09:26:00 AM by Douceswild
The new look of the site is amazing, but I can’t help but think that something is missing. What could it be? I can’t quite put my finger on it. Oh wait! This site needs to be christened! There’s no “new look” until I slap one of my jewels on this baby. Uh, by “baby”, I’m referring to this site, and not...an...actual...baby…..AWKWARD!

With all of the new changes going on around here, there needs to be something familiar. Something that people can come to and say amidst all of the changes, “Hey! It sure is good to see those jewels again.” I mean this place is so different now that when I come here, I barely even recognize my own jewels. Now that’s just a damn shame.

So what could I possible pull out this time? Let’s see. We can go with flying monkeys wearing power gloves? Or maybe I could use skating polar bears talking on the iPhone. It’s just not good enough for the new design. DAMMIT!! Which jewel can I plop right on out on this page. Wait a second. I’m getting something. I’m seeing something memorable, catchy, and hilarious. I think I I’ve got it. Holy mother of Bill Gates! It’s raining!! No. It’s not raining men. It’s raining…chocolate! Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!

OK people! If you don’t know the words to the whole song, that’s alright because after hearing this, this song will be stuck in your head while you play your favorite video game, read your favorite manga, or play with your favorite tech gadget. You only need to know two words. I bring to you the first of Douce’s Jewels for the new and improved ESH site. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce the one geek to rule them ALL…Tay Zonday with “Chocolate Rain” (Some stay dry and others feel the pain.) Use that verse when you totally destroy someone in a video game…or in life (/shrug shoulders). It’s up to you.

    Enjoy!

    What Does 800pts Get You?

    posted @ 11/21/2006 03:00:00 PM by Ninjasistah
Well, on Wednesday [22 NOV 06] 800pts will get you a download of Small Arms through the XBLive Arcade.

Small Arms is a multiplayer brawling title from Gastronaut Studios and features some small not-so-cuddly little creatures waging all kinds of holy hell on each other. Think of it as Super Smash Brothers Melee but with hella weapons.

I only heard about this game through an email I got, but after looking around on the web and finding this page on the Xbox website and then this video on YouTube...

and I have to say that I'm kinda curious about the game now. As I stated earlier it only costs 800pts and will be available in the arcade this Wednesday. The thing about this game that has piqued my interest is something called "Six Degrees of Small Arms" which is some sort of achievement that you can only get by playing someone that already has it. From what I've read, it's some sort of social networking thing to get a bunch of folks playing the game from hour one of launch as the only people that will initially have this "Six Degrees of Small Arms" are each of the creators of the game.

I don't know if I'll get Small Arms on Wednesday or not. I am really curious about it, and I think I have enough points to get it, but my Wii should be arriving that day... so I might be distracted.

The answer to the most important question of 2006: Will you get tired using the Wii controller? According to this story from someone who pounded hard at the Legend of Zelda for more than 10 hours, the answer is no.

Spoiling Zelda for you: Can't wait to see just how Zelda is going to look? Here's a site that reveals a bunch of screens from the Wii title.

Nintendo's questions and obfuscations: Game Informer magazine recently interviewed Perrin Kaplan, vice president of marketing and corporate affairs for Nintendo of America, about the Wii. According to Kaplan, several celebrities are already queueing up for the console, including Sean Combs and Uma Thurman. When asked about Nintendo's vantage point in the console war between Sony and Microsoft, Kaplan told Game Informer, "I think it could be the tortoise and the hare."

Will the Wii support custom soundtracks? This screenshot on the Darkzero site certainly suggests it.

Will Cartman get a Wii? The little South Park sparkplug was so anxious to get a Wii that he had himself frozen in last week's episode, with some unfortunate results. The conclusion can be seen this week, Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern time, and repeating at midnight Wednesday, 10 p.m. Thursday, 12:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 p.m. Sunday. If you missed last week's episode, you can search for it on YouTube or wait for it to show up on iTunes.

    Download Your Anime Legally...

    posted @ 9/26/2006 08:44:00 PM by Ninjasistah
For a small fee that is. Today ADV Films launched their new anime download store called ADVuniverse

The website features episodes of various ADV license anime series for download. For a mere $4.99 American you can download episode one of Godannar or Jinki: Extended, or, um, Comic Party Revolution. Keep in mind that the store just launched so there are very few titles with episodes available. I'm sure that more titles and episodes will be added shortly. There are also a couple of movie titles available including Lady Death, but movie titles will cost you more topping out at about $19.99, which may have you asking, "is it worth it?"

My answer is a tad bit jaded. Why? Well for starters, the files are in WMV format with DRM protection. And before you go all crazy and accuse me of being a pirate [which I am not, I am clearly a Ninja... see my shurikens?] I only object to the DRM in this case because it renders the service useless on a Macintosh. Windows Media Player is only up to version 9 on the Mac, Microsoft has said they are no longer going to improve or add to the application, and neither WMP 9 on the Mac, VLC Media Player, nor MPlayer can play DRM protected WMV files. This sucks not only for myself, but true anime horders like Pandalicious. If I would have been able to buy and play ADV's catalog of content on my Mac I probably would buy a new external drive to devote just to it and I'm sure Panda would add a few drives to her existing arsenal of external storage.

I know that Apple recently added movie downloads to their iTunes Store, and I do feel that digital downloading is the future of film and animation distribution. Don't believe? Think of all the people that hit up places like YouTube and Viral Video, or how popular video podcasting has become... all those users can't be a fluke or fad. But I do think they have set their price point a bit too high and cut out too much of a potential consumer base to be very successful. Compare $1.99 per TV show episode through the Apple iTunes Store which you can purchase and view on either the Windows or Macintosh platforms to the $4.99 per anime series episode which you can must purchase and play on a Windows machine.

I guess time will tell. I could be wrong, people might be willing to pay $4.99 per episode for a half hour anime episode that is DRM protected to a Windows machine... but I know I won't be.

    Adult Swim is My Hero

    posted @ 9/07/2006 12:45:00 PM by Ninjasistah
I was getting tired of having to check out anime that Pandalicious suggested to me on YouTube so I gave up. But the only series that I really got into and was pissed to leave behind was Bleach.

Well, now the good folks at Williams Street are hooking a sistah [ok, and the rest of you too] up with this kick ass series starting this Saturday night. [09 SEP 06] They are putting bleach on at 12:30pm EST so I am going to assume they aren't editing a whole lot out of it, more like I am praying that they don't edit too much out of it. I like my anime series au naturale if you know my meaning.

Still, it's nice to see some new anime hitting the Adult Swim block of programming. I wasn't all that impressed with Eureka 7. [although they have a bomb ass website] I just didn't find the main character of Rentin all that interesting, which is huge because I'm a sucker for mecha anime series. So since then, I've only been tuning into AS for Robot Chicken and the venture brothers. Now before you get all huffy puffy, I TiVO Ghost in the Shell so I can watch it later on in the week.

In any case, if you have cable you need to make sure that you tune in and catch Bleach this weekend on Adult Swim. 12:30 Saturday night. I'll bring the popcorn.

    No Means No

    posted @ 9/06/2006 01:54:00 PM by Ninjasistah
Bopping through the YouTube and what do I see?

I see a funny ass FMA AMV that's what.
The song is one of my favorite songs by the band Sublime and is edited in a cute way. Sure, it helps that I'm a FMA FREAK fan, but I think the eccentrics of the characters in the series lends itself really well to this song and it, er, um, theme. If you have never heard of Sublime, you might want to roll over to Last.FM or someplace like it to take a listen to their stuff, or listen to some music by RES...I like her too.

Anywho, back to the topic at hand. Watch this video. And remember, no means "NO!"

I found this one on YouTube and just laughed my ass off every time I watched it...which right now is up to 8.

So here is the video, if you can't see the player below or have any problems, follow this link.

So if you are having the kind of day where you need a laugh, giggle, or to just see something different, you should do yourself a favor and watch it.
