APB Goes FREE

Thursday, November 18th, 2010 by VichusSmith

After its quick and painful death, the MMORPG APB has been stuck in limbo, with rumors of it being resurrected by another developer who would buy it out.

First, can anyone remember an MMO that actually got this second chance at life? I cannot recall any game that has been afforded this opportunity!  Realtime Worlds was a bad loss for Realtime Worlds, but there were aspects of the game that other companies are interested in, like the deep character customization. Too bad that things like gameplay weren't what impressed gamers and critics about the MMO.

There were so many big companies who were said to be coming to the rescue. Now the real buyer has stood up! GamersFirst has bought the rights to the game. What is unclear is how much the game will change once it is in new hands. Will it become a totally new game? Will the gameplay improve? It is going to be free, so how much incentive does GamersFirst have to spruce up the game? With players not forking in a subscription month to month, what quality can you expect? GamersFirst are using the Unreal 3 engine, so that bodes well. We will have to wait until 2011, though, to see what comes of this deal.

Now We Can Have More Than One Character On Screen At a Time.

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 by Bramimond

Journey with me back to a land of physics based puzzles and platforming. Trine was an enjoyable mix of action, puzzle-solving, and platforming. The dynamic of switching between your three playable characters mid-level to use each one’s strength at the right time was a lot of fun. This time around you and a friend, or two, can play through this universe together.

It's Blade Kitten mo'fuckers!!!

No, it's not that exciting. Blade Kitten is an action/adventure title about a cat girl who makes her living as a bounty hunter.  She also has a cool sword that she controls telepathically.

E3: Co-Op Croft, Isometric Style

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 by Hamsterman2049

Downloadable games always seem like they can be either very promising or an underdeveloped mess.  While at E3, I stopped by to see the good folks at Square Enix and got some hands-on time with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.  Much to my delight, it’s looking like Lara’s latest adventure, though not a part of the main story, is going to be one co-op isometric-camera action title you won’t want to miss.

We Built This City, We Built This City on APB!

Monday, June 14th, 2010 by VichusSmith

Who's ready to play some APB? APB is close to launch, and a few players have been given the "Keys to the city," allowed to download a build of APB before the general public can paw all over it.

APB Keys to the City Build

This is gonna take a while.

As expected with an MMO, this will be a big download. It will most likely take around 8 hours or so, even if you've got a quick connection. You might want to make a sandwich while you wait. Oh, OK. Maybe two. Hopefully, all the wait will be worth it!
