Unique RPG West of Loathing playable on Steam Greenlight

Sure, they're stick figures. Don't let that bother you

What with 4K TVs and Retina screen's, you don't expect a grayscale game featuring stick figures, do you? But that's exactly what you get with the video game West of Loathing, now available on Steam Greelight.

The finished game will be available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux on Steam next year. As the makers explain it, "West of Loathing is a sprawling, stick figure role-playing game set in the Wild West. It's kind of like Skyrim, but with big hats and canned beans instead of glass armor and cheese wheels."

Choose from three character classes: Cow Puncher, Beanslinger or Snake Oiler. Explore perilous gulches, skeleton-riddled cemeteries, mysterious abandoned mines and disreputable saloons. Plumb the ruins of ancient civilizations for riches, deliver justice to unscrupulous and sarcastic bandits and negotiate complex bureaucracies in cursed ghost towns full of cursed ghost accountants. And watch your back, because danger and dumb jokes lurk around every corner.

West of Loathing is loosely spun off from maker Asymmetric's long-running MMORPG The Kingdom of Loathing, which has amused and traumatized more millions of players since its 2003 debut. The makers conclude, "If you're not one of them, never fear! West of Loathing will be totally standalone, self-contained and single-player."
