ESH Cast #614: A funny thing happened on the way to the podcast

Just when you think you have everything nailed down, the boards on the front porch start warping on you. Suddenly, you're tripping on a surface you presumed was perfectly flat and level.

That's precisely what happened to us on Sunday. Ninja and Panda were settled in on the couch with pizza and champaign, watching and commenting on last week's Game Awards Show for this episode of the podcast. We spent the next three hours doing just that.

And then, a few hours after Panda left the House of ESH, Ninja went back and listened to the recording. With the exception of a few seconds at the beginning, there was nothing but random electronic sounds where stellar video game analysis had been.

In the past when we encountered a snafu like that, we would just re-record the thing. But we had simply run out of time for that. The show needed to be available the next day. So we assigned our producer to put together another clip show.

He chose to put together a show highlighting other mistakes we had made during the production of 12 years' worth of shows, including the scant few words we had managed to record for this week's show. You can hear those right after the theme song at the front of the show.

Also featured in this week's show are comments by Xenocore, Magic Mystic Girl, King Baby Duck and Derrick from Dead Pixel Live. The music at the end is by Max Raabe and Das Palast Orchester (that's not a misspelling).
