    E3: When Mediums Mix

    posted @ 6/03/2009 12:18:00 PM by Ninjasistah
If you have followed this site or our podcast for any length of time, you know that I love creativity and creative people, so it only makes sense that an event like the ESA's "Into the Pixel" art gallery would tickle me pink.

Into the Pixel is an art show that the ESA puts on at the beginning of the E3 Expo. Video game themed artwork is created and submitted by gamers and non-gamers to be judged by a panel and the winners artwork goes on display for the entirety of the expo.

Last night, I was able to attend the reception with some of the members of the AllGames.com fam and was very surprised at just how good and creative many of the pieced on exhibit were. Piece topics ranged from Raving Rabbids to not yet released The Conduit, and even included a piece on Dirk Dagger! I've included a picture below from the Pixel website which you should definitely check out and I may float back there today to get some pictures as they were not allowed last night.

This piece was done by Kareem Ettouney based on the SCEA title Little Big Planet and is named "Craft Cosmos."

E3: It's Not Only About The Swag

    posted @ 6/03/2009 11:56:00 AM by Ninjasistah
As I write this post, I am preparing to start day two of our ESH E3 coverage. Yesterday was a bit hurried, but I absolutely loved it.

Where else can you get to play The Beatles: Rockband before the rest of the world does, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Scribblenauts, and get some free booze before noon?

ONLY in LA!Which is fine by me if you want to keep score. I've got a few more things from yesterday that I have to get my notes and thoughts straight on, but wanted to give you an idea of what's on the docket today.

First up is Sega and Bayonetta which is going to be a hands-on demo with some Q&A afterwards. I'm following up Bayonetta with a small helping of Bethesda Softworks Wet, which is a third person shooter featuring another badass female lead character who goes by the name of Rubi. Then I'm going to have a break and get a coke before I continue on to Ubisoft where I'm going to balance out my chick-fest with a look at Assassin's Creed 2 and Red Steel 2. [Among other things.]

With the hard work out of the way I'm just going to mosey around the show floor, maybe visit with Konami, Activision, and Microsoft. Be on the lookout for updates today folks, they are just around the corner!

    News to Me: Avatar Movies!?!?

    posted @ 5/26/2009 11:08:00 PM by Ninjasistah
I know I'm not often available to crawl the entirety of the internet [ninja's do sleep sometimes] but I'm surprised that news of a movie based on the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is in the works got passed me until now.

Not only will the Avatar movie [called "The Last Airbender"] be live action, but the director attached to the flick is no where near Uwe Boll status.

    M. Night Shyamalan is at the helm of "Airbender" with Dev Patel as Prince Zuko and a cute kid named Noah Ringer playing Aang. While I do not doubt Patel's acting chops, I couldn't find anything about Ringers' work on ye olde interwebs so I'm not sure what he'll bring to the table, but a gal has to have high hopes right? He looks adorable though, and I will continue to hope that they will work on Patel's hair and makeup to help him look more like Zuko and less like Kumar from the Harold and Kumar movies.

Adding to the confusion is that James Cameron has been hard at work on an IMAX film called Avatar which has less than nothing to do with the Airbender series, but since Mr. Cameron started writing his "Avatar" over ten years ago, poor Shyamalan-a-ding-dong has to call his flick "The Last Airbender" instead of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." I gather that the powers that be do not have much faith that people would be able to tell the difference between the two movies even though one [Avatar] is set in outer space and has a cast of highly recognizable stars [Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, and "new Uhura" Zoe Saldana] versus the flick [Airbender] with the youngsters and new blood [Do you know who Nicola Peltz is? I sure as hell don't.]

I just hope that neither of these pictures suck. I make no bones about being a huge avatar fan [I own both the DVD collection and the iTunes version so I can watch it on my iPhone when I travel] and the idea of a live action Avatar both interests me and scares me at the same time. At the same time, a sci-fi flick with Ms. Weaver, Mr. Ribisi, and Ms. Saldana has me ready to order tickets online early, which is something I never do.

When I know more, I 'll share. For now, check out these pictures from "The Last Airbender."

    Post Mom's Day Podcast

    posted @ 5/11/2009 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah

We hope you were able to treat your mom to something wonderful yesterday, and if not why not you cheap bastard? Did you at least make a special episode of your podcast like we did? No?

    What the hell dude?

We've been working on this episode of our podcast for a while now with mom in mind. There is no better way celebrate your mom than devoting an entire episode of your show to her, mentions of her from previous episodes and randomness.

Grab your "start me up" beverage of choice [personally I rock the SB 9-pump venti cinnamon dolce latte] and enjoy ESH podcast episode 145: It's the Mother of All Episodes
