    Girls Talking About a Pad

    posted @ 2/01/2010 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah
New podcast Monday is here once again and this hour long show is jam packed full of puns and bad jokes.

This week, NinJaSistah and Pandalicious talk about Apple's newly announced (and poorly named) iPad device and their first reactions to the device. The ladies also work in a plug for the new ESH YouTube channel, Flickr account, and FaceBook group... but mostly wrap their minds around the iPad.

To get a better idea of what the show is like, here are some of the titles that came up but were not chosen:
    • A Braile iPad Would Make Quite an Impression
    • Pada Says All Her Appliances Are Masculine
    • Video IS the Radio Star
    • Comedy – Comment – And Another "C" Word I Can't Think Of
    • and finally

    Eggs Without the Estrogen

    posted @ 1/25/2010 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah
Well, not really as this fresh Monday episode of the Electric Sista Hood podcast is just chock fulla ladies!

Pandalicious and NinJaSistah welcome guest host PyroGirl to the show to chat about the anime and manga series Shugo Chara which former host MagicMysticGrl talk about back in the day. NinJa pretty much just adds the color commentary [sometimes with a really bad "valley" impression] as both Pandalicious and PyroGirl try to impart the seriousness that is Shugo Chara. By seriousness I mean heart of people birthing eggs housing their inner selves... cute, little, chibi selves.

Shugo Chara is a hard series for me to explain so we'll just impart a quick run down: Cat-Boy not-so-bad-baddie, hints of pedophilia, magical girl syndrome, and girls that turn out to be boys. Oh yeah, probably has some incest in there as well, but the anime series is 102 episodes deep keeping Chara from being some fly-by-night series. Need more convincing to listen to the episode? Here are some of the titles we didn't use
    • All these 80's Movies are Turning Her Into ValleySistah
    • Ferrets Steal Shiny Things Like Magpies (But Magpies Aren't Shiny)
    • For Most Eggs, Their Dreams Ends At KFC
    • I Thought Keybearers Liked Small Locks
    • and finally
    • It's a Good They Didn't Mention the Incest Until Last

According to Bayonetta, Angels Enjoy Their Crotches

    posted @ 1/18/2010 08:05:00 AM by Ninjasistah
The first full Monday after the CES recovery week brings with it a new episode of the Electric Sista Hood podcast and this one is focused on Platinum Games new title release Bayonetta.

Both NinJaSistah and Pandalicious have played through the game and spend the bulk of the hour tripping through the awesome gameplay that is Bayonetta while spoiling the story ending, plot points and more. Did you know there was a music video at the end of the game? You do now!

We even answer an audience question or two, touch on James Cameron's movie Avatar and start sharing some of the audio interviews Evermore and I conducted during CES 2010. Need more incentive to take a listen, check out some of the titles we came up with for this episode but didn't use:
    • Climaxes Are Different — We'll Get Back to Those
    • She's Wet — And It's Not Just Because She's Been At the Bottom of a Lake

In this episode of our weekly podcast, NinJaSistah introduces three segments of content we had to cut from previous episodes that have yet to air on a final episode of our podcast... until now that is. First up are some of the things we cut from our original airing of our holiday gift guide, including the RoboTech Saga anime series, iPod Touch, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 titles.

The next segment kinda keeps the holiday theme going by talking about how much both Pandalicious and NinJaSistah hate Christmas gifts/holiday decorations appearing commercially before Halloween has even happened. In the final segment of the podcast, we give you some of the anime stuff that NinJaSistah has talked about recently, but hasn't made it to your eardrums like Kiba and Maria Watches Over Us.

    Podcasts With Punch

    posted @ 8/31/2009 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah
We aren't talking punch and pie, we are talking uppercuts and decks to the face in this episode of the podcast. I should clarify that statement. Pandalicious is talking uppercuts and face decking, NinJaSistah mostly just tries to stay out of the way.

In this episode of the podcast Pandalicious lays bare her tale of woe concerning the temporary loss of her XBox Live account, and how the lack of connecting is affecting her life. From the bounce around treatment of customer care reps on both the XBox Live email and phone support, and quick response from the Windows Live ID groups to the soon-to-be-catch-phrase-of-the-end-of-summer, "...and then you get punched in the face!" Calling her segment a rant doesn't do it justice.

Bringing a little bit of tranquillity back to the show, NinJaSistah adds some gadget/peripheral stuff to the mix like Ion Audio's new $199 DrumRocker Core Rock Band kit as well as some info on the new Star Wars comics coming to an iTunes store [and Dark Horse hopes] and iPod/iPhone near you. Capping off the hour is a bit on the Square Enix PSP title Final Fantasy Dissidia and a heads up for your PAX attendees on a Tekken 6 tournament for prizes that you should jump on.

Want a better picture of what the episode is like? Here are the titles we didn't use:
    • From Now On, It's Panda-Phish-Us
    • LadyESH Is Secure in Her Chastity Belt
    • If Xbox Live Doesn't Get Their Act Together, They're Going to Be Xbox Dead

Would they be able to pull it off? What kind of show would they produce? First of all, of course they would pull it off, they are awesome and "B" it would almost have to be a clip show ya silly.

The Beginning of Things to Come

    posted @ 7/01/2009 11:55:00 AM by FreeLoader
Detail is an important aspect of any review. I want to bring you the ins and outs of the games coming to your favorite consoles.

Some of you might remember me from my article on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I'm Bramimond, and I want to bring you the detail that is needed to know whether a game is for you or not. I spend a good amount of time reading reviews on a variety of sites before I decide whether or not it deserves a buy. But I am getting sick of those 4/10s that just use 2 paragraphs of my day to say: "Th!s gaem iz teh sux0r!!1". And let's not forget about those 10/10s that give you the "Bai thiz gam3 cuz it is (insert famous series name) so it MUST be AW3SUM"

I own a Wii, DS, PS3 and a PSP, and I want to bring you detailed reviews on the top games for each system. My updates will be sporadic as I am not officially a part of the site just yet, but I certainly hope that my reviews will secure me a spot. You’ll have to look to Panda and Ninja for your Xbox information, but I’m sure you won’t have a problem there. Their experience in the matter is well recognized.

Gaming is in my genes, when I was little my mom was playing the original Legend of Zelda and drawing her own maps for the dungeons. This was before the age of sites like GameFAQs, where gamers had to find their own way through a game. That is the age I was born into, but even the gaming golden ages were filled with games that could make you vomit just from watching footage of it being played. (I’m looking at you E.T.)

I want to help you find the games that will keep you playing long after you beat that final boss. I’ve been hardcore since the day I was born, and playing games is what I’m about. So look to me for your detailed look into the games that make the consoles great.

    posted @ 5/31/2009 10:51:00 PM by Ninjasistah

So E3 is literally right around the corner in that Pandalicious and I fly out to LA in the AM, and we are really excited!

This years' event will be the third that we have attended in the last few years, but will mark the first time Pandalicious and I have covered an event together ever. We will be teaming up with some of the crew and affiliate family from AllGames Radio and bringing you all the news we can stay awake long enough to write, report, put together, or just plain think is cool.

As always, we will be reporting on stuff as it goes down from some of the media briefings, sharing our unique take on things, and maybe even do a live event or two. If you have any questions for us, or want to suggest something for us to do/look at/investigate while at the show, make sure to take advantage of our Questionsat ESHdot mobi address and send them in... just keep in mind that all times for us will be PST and not EST.

    We cool?

With Pandalicious on assignment at Anime Boston and Ninjasistah off on some kind of ninja mission Evermore is left to his own devices which only means one thing: CLIP SHOW!

This one doesn't disappoint. The cutting room floor is part of our secret stash. It contains a lot of content that we end up cutting out of shows due to running our mouths too long, getting caught saying things we shouldn't, and tangents that just don't make a freaking bit of sense. Evermore has collected a few of his more favorite sound bytes from the cutting room floor content and put it together in a very entertaining episode. Featuring former show co-host MagicMysticGrl, Xenocore from Ultimate Quest and the sistahs' I urge you to kick back and enjoyEpisode 147: The Sistahs From the Cutting Room Floor.

    What the hell dude?

We've been working on this episode of our podcast for a while now with mom in mind. There is no better way celebrate your mom than devoting an entire episode of your show to her, mentions of her from previous episodes and randomness.

If raincoat tasting isn't your cup of joe, you might want to try on this week's episode of the ESH podcast instead. It's up to you really, are you a raincoat licker or podcast enthusiast?

If you aren't, Pandalicious and NinJaSistah are plenty enthusiastic in this episode of the ESH podcast for everyone. The gals answer some of your questions, on both the anime and game tip, talk a bit about Lego Rock Band, the DragonBall movie how easy it is ignore superheroes alter egos, and one of the weirdest anime series I have ever heard of before, "Kyoran Kazoku Nikki." Seriously, it's a weird one only Pandalicious can love.

To give you better picture of this episode, take a peek at some of the titles we didn't use for this episode:

    • The Wolverine Movie Mutated Into Something I Don't Want to See

The ladies aren't playing around in this episode of the ESH podcast... oh wait, yes we are.

This episode of the podcast starts with a disclaimer and correction of information by Pandalicious with what's up [and more importantly not up] with her and DPL host DerrickH. Once she gets that off her chest, we get on with the business at hand and first up is the plight of The Pirate Bay copyright infringement lawsuit ruling, which starts off with a Pirates Vs. Ninjas debate. [Ninja's win by the way] We then segue into The Beatles: Rockband gushings, the current surge of western influenced or designed RPG's and even some anime with the multi-WTF-moment-creating series Peach Girl.

We only had a few alternate titles for this episode like, "More Douche Than a Daytime Drama," and "Ace Is the Place for Girls With Low Self Esteem." It was ridiculously fun to record, so grab your morning motivation and enjoy ridiculously ESH Podcast Episode 142: The Truth Burns Like Gin (It Does)

We start off answering audience questions, recap some left over comments from the G.I. Joe movie, and then dig into the nuts and bolts that make up the anime series Overman King Gainer

From perception issues with being black, female, and down with the technology stuff to how to best take advantage of when the StayPuft Marshmallow Man finally comes to claim his puffy vengeance. I want to start this off by saying that vandalism is bad.

It harms the community, and should not be viewed as any kind of positive artistic expression... but there is a lot of graffiti that can be viewed as art and some that should not be thought of as anything less. This category of graffiti is creative, leaves a positive affect on it's community, and can inspire creativity in others. I absolutely adore anything that inspires creativity, so when a friend of mine showed me WiiSpray I about wet myself.

I hope this thing gets a green light because I would love to be able to work on a digital canvas during the day and then share some of my artwork with my Wii pals. This application would probably get me to using my Wii again. The thing about WiiSpray that intrigues me the most is that it was created as part of the Master Thesis work of Martin Lihs and Frank Matuse, students at the Bauhaus University Media Department in Germany.

The best way I can put it is innovation born of education and curiosity. If that sound interesting to you, then make sure to check the teaser video and then you too will know.

From digital pictures sent through the pipes of XBLive and PSN to the Stubbs character in the new Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost & The Damned" DLC, DP has been popping up all over the place and needs to stop. We also chat a bit about the new Street Fighter IV game from Capcom and Panda shares some of her Left 4 Dead versus mode opinions.

Monday brings along with it a new episode of the ESH podcast, and since NinJa had an at bat on an episode all her own, we had to give Panda equal time on this network.

Ok, so we aren't a network yet, but we are growing in that general direction so stop raining on our parade already. Pandlicious spends a little time in this episode sharing her top 5 picks for best songs featured in Rock Band 2 by MTV Games/EA/Harmonix. By now you should have a firm grasp on how much the sistah's love the Rock Band but if you don't, just make a run through of our past posts and podcast for the last two months. You will lose count of the amount of times we talk about this game, so one more won't hurt.

ESH is once again going Pink for October in hopes of helping to raise Breast Cancer Awareness.

While none of the ESH podcast members have themselves been diagnosed with cancer, there is not one person in our ragtag little crew whose life has not been touched by the disease. Family member, friend, loved one, we all know someone or of someone that has been diagnosed, is living with, or has been cancer free for some time and if we can help raise the awareness of just one person then being part of this initiative is well worth it.

I first became aware of Pink For October just as ESH started to come into it's own two years ago, and we have been proud to participate in the program ever since. I hope that you take some time, visit a few of the Pink Links that we will have up all month.

The start of the week brings another new episode of the ESH podcast, and this week we learn that caffeine and sugar do not sit too awful well with the sistahs.

This is especially true if you add prescription drugs to the mix. poor Pandalicious and her messed up foot. But neither the pain nor giddiness of the two keeps them from chatting about Spore:Creatures on the DS Lite, RockBand 2 co-operative play on da interwebs, and how the lack of XBox Live can drive lonely ninjas nutzoid.

If you want to get the gist of what the episode is about, check out the titles we didn't use for this one:

Somehow David Bowie makes it into the conversation again as well as incest which is mostly Panda's fault for bringing Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise to the table.

Monday is here again, and so is a new episode of the ESH podcast. The girl team is complete on this one so expect randomness galore this hour and change.

The episode kicks off with Pandalicious and MagicMystic discussing how they came to love and specialize on the topics they, well, are experts on here at camp ESH. [In case you are new to the game, Panda shows anime some love while Magic takes us down the dark and [every once and a while] psychotic path of manga. While the girls chat about their passions and influences toward them, Ninja tries to keep up by hanging back in the corner.

When the dust settles, NinJaSistah jumps into the conversation to talk about the resurgence of the Science Fiction genre in mainstream entertainment and the pros and cons of it's new found popularity. It's another weird and wacky episode guys, check out the titles we didn't use for this one:

If you ever sit and ponder on the idea of people of a young-ish age drinking, let this new episode of the ESH podcast be the proof you need to "just say nay!"

This week, MagicMystic returns and brings with her balance to the force while Panda and Ninja enjoy some adult juice before, during, and probably after the episode.

This episode starts with Ninja talking about the new XBLive Arcade title Go! Go! Break Steady that she keep calling "Go! Go! Beat Street" reports on some of the feelings around the industry about E3, and the hopefully triumphant return of the fighting genre on the back of Soul Calibur IV. Magic chimes in with her new found XBox-y goodness and general discovery of "the new" as she shares first impressions of her new XBox 360 Elite as well as latent desires for an XBLive account, and then Panda brings up the rear and talks about the anime and manga series, Full Metal Panic. The gals are back to normal and completely off topic as usual.

Here are some of the random things said during the show that could have been used as titles, but weren't:
    • Wallmart, Baby Come Back!

It's hard to explain the title until you listen to the episode, but trust me this new episode of the ESH podcast is quite the piece of work.

In this episode of the podcast, the sistah's run the video game, entertainment and anime gauntlet from the audience choice re-review of the anime series Angel Sanctuary to new games on the E3 horizon. Would it be an ESH podcast if we didn't talk about incest, angst, mentioning Bioshock or complaining about videogames/comic titles being turning into feature length films? I don't think so. To give you a better idea of how the episode turned out, here are the titles we didn't choose:

    • Sucked Into a Portal of Happiness
    • God Knows, Even In His Sleep
    • Again With the Incest
    • I Love Her, So I Need to Kill Her
    • The Sex Scenes Are Pretty Cool, Just Pretend They're Not Related

Monday brings with it yet another episode of the ESH podcast, and in this one the sistahs' steal the limelight and hold it hostage for about an hour.

NinJaSistah takes the mic first this go 'round to speak on a topic near and dear to her heart, Ninja Gaiden II. From new visuals, lamest ninja name ever, to best and worst aspects of initial gameplay NinJa brings the sexy black. I mean back.

Then Pandalicious talks about her newly addicted Wii Fit experience. The yoga that is easy, what the game is and is not, and how it affects her daily life. MagicMystic chimes in a time or too before having to head out early. All in all, it's one of our normal, wacky shows. Here are some of the episode titles we rejected:

    Episode 100!

    posted @ 6/09/2008 08:00:00 AM by Ninjasistah
    LAUNCH
The podcast kicked off in 2006 with the first episode being released on May 3rd, and we have been cranking them out ever since. Over 100 total released shows [We have done a bunch of My Top Fives people] ESH has really grown into something unexpected, but ultimately an insane amount of fun to do.
In this episode of the podcast we talk about how we got to be two years old.

    CHANGE
I launched the site in April of 06 as SplendidBlunder.com. Originally, the idea was to have a space on the web to create, post, mix, and remix other people’s GarageBand projects. It was going to be a playground for Panda and I, and while we were having all of our conversations about the setup, we kept wasting time talking about Video games and anime.

    GROWTH
We realized quickly that we wouldn’t be able to do just the site or the podcast alone, and began recruiting our more than geeky friends to join the family. The first recruit was MagicMystic, then came Evermore, MonkeyDoo, Douceswild, GeekWoman, madameRoslin, theAdmiral, colonelPanic, and most recently KingBabyDuck.
We started out small, with only 1000 people on average hitting the site, and now, we do quite a bit better. I figure it has to be the crazy that keeps them coming back, because there is definitely nothing out there like us.

We will be making autographed DVD’s featuring all of the podcast episodes over the last two years available on the ESH site shortly.

We thank you for your attention, and toast to another hundred. Enjoy podcast episode number 100: Go Team Venture!

    GTAIV Giveaway: XBox 360 Elite

    posted @ 4/21/2008 09:09:00 PM by Ninjasistah
In case you missed it, we are giving away an XBox 360 to a lucky [and clever] viewer. It could be you, you lucky bastard!

If you are one of the poor unfortunate souls to yet listen to the ESH podcast, we've recently become part of the All Games Radio Network and have partnered with the rest of the clan on the network to give one of our collective awesome fans a GTAIV Limited Edition Xbox 360 Elite. This is not one of the completely pimped out deals with the briefcase full of peripherals, but is a free XB360 nonetheless. Wanna know how you can win it?

Here's the deal: One of the cornerstones of the GTA series is the in-game radio stations, complete with spoof ads and spoof segments. Now's the time for you to step up and create your own... for ESH.

Submit a sound clip no longer than 120 seconds in the style of a GTA4 Radio Station commercial for ESH. It can be a spoof ad, segment, song, whatever. While we prefer you submit only an ad for ESH to this site, you can create ads for all of the participants from the All Games Radio Network, which include the following:

    • All Games Interactive
    • Dead Pixel Live
    • The Bobby Blackwolf Show
    • Orange Lounge Radio
    • Superhappyfuntimeshow
    • ElectricSistaHood
    • MediSpective
    • ChatterBox Video Game Radio
    • Video Game Outsiders
    • Ultimate Quest
    • The Video Games Show
    • Platform Nation

    THE RULES
    1. The entry can be in the form of an MP3 emailed to the affiliate show OR as a voicemail left on that show's voicemail line.
    2. Only one entry per affiliate show, however multiple affiliate shows can be entered with unique audio clips. (No sending the same audio to multiple shows.)
    3. Submissions will either be played on the affiliate show or put up on
the show's website (or forums.allgames.com) and will be voted on via the community in a poll with the results hidden. Winners of these votes advance to the final round.
    4. If one person wins multiple affiliate contests, a coin flip will determine which show he/she wins, the other show chooses the runner-up as their finalist.
    5. The contest is only open to North American residents, as it is an NTSC console.
    6. No copywritten materials are permitted in the entry - parody is okay, just don't use the original.
    7. All submissions become the property of the affiliate show they are submitted to, as they will be used in promotion of that show.
    8. Cast and crew of the participating affiliate shows are not eligible.
    9. The decisions of the judges (affiliate show hosts at the affiliate level, All Games Radio at the final level) is final.

    THE SCHEDULE
    • Sunday, April 20th: Submission period opens
    • Sunday, May 4th: Submission deadline at midnight PT, 3am EST

    Prototype Comic

    posted @ 4/16/2008 09:58:00 PM by Ninjasistah
Sierra Entertainment and DC Comics have decided to partner up and create a comic book based on the upcoming Sierra/Vivendi title Prototype which looks FREAKIN' PHENOMENAL!

In the game Prototype, the gamer controls the PC of Alex Mercer. Alex is a special boy. He's genetically altered [more like turned into a mutant of X-Men proportion] and now is shape-shifter of sorts. [a la Mystique] Alex has no memory of his past [a la Wolverine] and is,
hell bent on solving the mystery of his existence...
Yes, Alex is a special boy.

The game is set in NYC and is developed as an open world game by the folks from Radical, so you know it will be good. But the fact that they are going to make it a comic series really has me intrigued. It's obvious from the video trailers for the game that Alex is not a complete good good, and may be more charcoal than grey, and I think that the comic and graphic novel genres lend themselves well to telling the story of these kinds of characters. When done correctly, a great comic will emotionally align you with the character, good or evil, which in turn can make you uncomfortable.

I make no bones about the fact that I absolutely love the Cassandra Cain Batgirl series of comics. I have nothing against Barbara Gordon, I never knew the woman personally, but it was the darkness that Cassandra came out of that really made me like her. Strike that, I loved her. I loved the fact that she didn't come from a good home. I loved the fact that she had to struggle with learning mercy. Cassandra was trained to be an assassin from the time she was born. I imagine it will be a similar case with Mr. Mercer and I doubt that an open world game [no matter how open it is] will be able to deliver the same type of depth as a graphic novel could.

I love BioShock, and bet I would be a huge fan of the tale being told as a 7 or 8 volume novel even more. I was interested in this game after I first heard about it, now I'm excited.

I know it's officially Wednesday, but a late new episode of the ESH podcast is always better than never receiving the episode at all.

Pandalicious shares some musings about viral video treasure trove YouTube, FUNimation channel getting itself out of the rerun doldrums, and self buttering popcorn. [you'll just have to listen to find out more about that one] Then NinJaSistah jumps in to add the sprinklings of gaming news including some first impressions on Legendary, and MagicMystic rounds out the show with another review of an edgy manga title. This title is hard to describe so I'll just give you the name...Deadman Wonderland.

First off, it's new podcast episode time again here at Electric Sista Hood, and this one is a doosie. We've always tagged our podcast as "explicit" because it would take more time to edit out crap to make it "clean enough for iTunes" than it's worth. This week's really drives this fact into the ground, so I'm taking this extra opportunity to warn you, that this episode is NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN TO LISTEN TO!

In case you haven't caught on yet, this is episode 69 of the ESH podcast, and we figured it would only be proper to do an all hentai episode of the show. Pandalicious gives you the low down on Please Teacher and admits to a few of her own personal fetishes while MagicMystic talks about the dojinshiAlice in Sexland by Mashumaro Jyuubaori. Closing out the hour, NinJaSistah chimes in with the reasons for her preferences in hentai, and desire for at lease some semblance of plot.

It's Monday people... let's talk about sex! Kick back, throw on some headphones, and take a listen to Episode 69: This Is the Other Podcast!

You may have noticed that some things have changed around the site again... and this time it's not a subtle change.

I spent some time talking it over with the ladies and we were all in agreement that there needed to be a major change in how things look and run around here in the land of ESH. The conversation travelled around and around in a circle between Pandalicious MagicMystic and myself. Cussing? Sure, there was lots of it. Promises of bodily harm being dolled out with the harshness? I can't say that words to those effects were never spoken. I will say that I didn't kill anyone... even though troubleshooting this design layout made me want to off a few people more often than not.

Actually if I am honest, Panda and Magic's actual response was more like, "You're doing what? Yeah. Okay. Whatever."

So take a gander at the new frESHness, just about everything worth moving over to this new look and sexy feel has been converted and I'm anxious to hear [um, see] what you think of the new hood!
