A Coupla Minutes With the Sistahs #442

In this excerpt from podcast episode 442, we include this snippet originally recorded for episode 401, in which Ninjasistah and Pandalicious try to discuss the game A City Sleeps, but the tangents keep getting in the way.

NinjaSistah: Harmonix announced a new game...

Pandalicious: Oh? Is it Streets of Rage?

NinjaSistah: It's not. It's not...

Pandalicious: Awwww, I'd love for us to get a new Streets of Rage.

NinjaSistah: You're not getting a new Streets of Rage game.

Pandalicious: Hopefully, maybe while he's in hell, he'll go through another Saints of Rage. Saints of Rage! That should have been its own downloadable content lA's afraid that she submitted on downloadable content.

NinjaSistah: Dude, Saints of Rage wr... oh, my God, I can't even speak the English right because of how much I feel for that...

Pandalicious: That was the best.

NinjaSistah: Yeah, I, ohhhh.

Pandalicious: It's duh besssst.

NinjaSistah: It's crazy. It's crazy. So, Harmonix's new game, A City Sleeps...

Pandalicious: Uh, huh.

NinjaSistah: It's...

Pandalicious: About Chicago? New York?

NinjaSistah: Listen. So a chunk of people who worked on Chroma are working on A City Sleeps. And it's a twin-stick shooter...

Pandalicious: 'Kay.

NinjaSistah: So, like Geometry Wars or, like, R-Type...

Pandalicious: Oh, man. Geometry Wars was, like, my friggin' kryptonite, but I was so addicted, like a moth to a flame...

NinjaSistah: Dude! You had to be addicted.

Pandalicious: I was, and I couldn't beat stuff. It was so hard.

NinjaSistah: OK, and so, it's, uh, really stylistic. (It) kind of reminds me a little bit (insofar) as some of the character design like Jet Set Radio, but a little bit more mature, like graphic novel style?

Pandalicious: Harmonix is in a place where they could definitely...

NinjaSistah: ...are doing super creative things, but, like...

Pandalicious: Well, they're in a place where they need to get... they need to make some killer I.P. to revitalize their franchise...

NinjaSistah: I think this... This could be it. It's going to bee a while before there's anything new on the Rock Band front, because those are expensive games to make, with the licensing of music alone, but...

Pandalicious: And the fact that music's going to a Dubstep thing, I can't imagine doing Rock Band where you're playing Dubstep songs.

NinjaSistah: Why not? You got the keyboard to do synth and drum.

Pandalicious: Yeah, but you there's barely any guitars.

NinjaSistah: You could completely do... You could grab every great D-and-B song on there, and there's a shit-ton of people who like D-and-B that would play a Rock Band D-and-B game.

Pandalicious: True. Trapped!

NinjaSistah: So, anyway, A City Sleeps follows a character (named) Poe, who is...

Pandalicious: A lady? I'm guessing.

NinjaSistah: So, anyway, yes. Who is basically a dream exorcist. They're called silkworms, and she's basically, like, the last of her line...

Pandalicious: She's the last unicorn. 'Kay.

NinjaSistah: Are you done sighing over there, real heavy? Do you need a moment?

Pandalicious: Ugggggggh! Go ahead.

NinjaSistah: So, anyway, she can enter people's minds when they're sleeping and rid their dreams of demons. Well, a bunch of citizens in the city she lives in, SanLo City, fall into a deep slumber and only she can get them out of their never-ending nightmare. The style is very interesting, it kind of reminds me a little bit of, like, Stryder.

Pandalicious: OK.

NinjaSistah: But it looks absolutely gorgeous, and it's not something that I would really, like expect coming out of Jarmonix, but it's (a) real, real cool-looking game and, you know, you say that it basically is running along the line of Geometry Wars and R-Type and, yeah! You've piqued my interest. I would like to know more.

Pandalicious: I feel, like, her special ability is like a variation of Kitty Pride's from X-Men Last Stand, I mean, Days Of Future Passed.

NinjaSistah: Yeah, see, I haven't seen the movie...

Pandalicious: Oops! Spoilers!

NinjaSistah: Spoiler-licious has returned. Right after episode 400. Nice!

Pandalicious: Hey, hey. She's been gone for a very long time. A very, very long time.
