          T-Minus 2 Hours And Counting

I'm sitting at the SJC airport waiting to get on a plane to head to LA for E For All

There is a lot of stuff going on at E For All this year. A lot of people are going to be in the house including EA and Ubisoft whom I'm really interested in seeing, [Please, please, please surprise me and bring Prince of Persia with you] but there are some lesser known [at least to me] companies that will be at the expo that I'm curious about and plan on visiting while I'm at the show.

First up is Dude Thing Creations. They make a peripheral stand for RockBand/GuitarHero games and I like the look of the stand. I'm not a musician, [not even close] so I always felt that going to Guitar Center to get an actual guitar stand would be kinda poser-ish, but this custom stand that the "Dudes" have put together is sensible and downright sexy. It would fit right in with my living room decor so I'm going to swing by and find out more about these dudes and their things.

Nova Gaming is going to be in the spot, and I'm curious about their new B4L bag. I'm not a huge LAN fan [he he, I mades a pun] but I am a fan of specific purpose gear bags, and hate jamming gear into a backpack when I do venture out of my apartment to game.

And then there is Tritton who has made my heart go pitter patter with the announcement that their SEE2 Xtreme now supports OSX on the Mac. I've been looking for a new monitor for my MBP and decided that I'd love to go super-pimp on my desktop setup [when I'm there] with a pair of monitors flanking my lil silver slate of awesome. To be able to have monitors connected via USB over DVI connectors with no lag... ::DROOLS::

Now that I've drooled on myself, I think I'll stop. Plus, planes almost here. Talk to you in a few. Let me know what you are curious about, and don't forget to catch ESH Live tomorrow on the All Games Radio Network!

There Is A New Prince In Town

When I first heard the announcement about the new Prince of Persia game I was pretty skeptical. While I did not complete Price of Persia:The Two Thrones [I only got half way through the title before I moved on to something else] I had grown quite attached to my prince, and the lovely narrator voice that followed him.

But the fine folks at Ubisoft have moved on to tell the tale of a new Price, and in an entirely new way.

The new Price is stuck in the middle of the most basest good versus evil conflicts: light versus dark. Very similar the the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes which the environment of the new PoP game strongly reminds me of. In the interview video you are about to watch you can see what I'm talking about. What I find most interested is how the companion character Elika will affect the gameplay. I can not shake the fact that this new PoP game comes across as the bastard child of Twilight Prince and Ico on the PS2.

          Pro-to-What-Ta?

Ubisoft, announced that Protöthea is dropping in May for WiiWare here in the US. I'm not yet sure if I'm happy about that or not.

Protöthea is a 3D top-down vertical scrolling shooter game where the player pilots a spaceship using the WiiMoteote and Nunchuk in tandem.
"Ubisoft is excited to bring Protöthea exclusively to the platform and we feel it's a must-have WiiWare title,”
shared James Regan, VP of third party operations, Ubisoft.

The storyline isn't doesn't vary far from the standard scrolling shooters of your [and my] arcade days: destroy all comers. In Protöthea the evil thing you have to destroy is an asteroid called "Maqno 01,” and while you are at it, sabotage the plans of a political faction called "The Core.” Ubisoft promises that enemy AI is "...dynamic and will change based on the player's actions..." even going so far as to say that,
"there are no predictable enemy paths and therefore always a different game play experience."
Again, a claim that I will wait to see if it's genuine or just hopefully thinking.

In the game players will have eight different air-to-air weapons and two different air-to-ground bombs at their disposal, and can attack however they choose. There will also be a special power that decelerates time, allowing players to easily avoid enemy fire while they are able to move rapidly and attack enemies. I love vertical scrolling shooters as they take me back, back in the day when 10 bucks worth of quarters could provide you with an entire afternoon's worth of entertainment. Let's hope the implementation of the WiiMote and Nunchuk help bring that nostalgic feeling back instead of being a painful reminder that I ain't in no arcade no more!
